NGD: 1982 Tokai FV-50 Flying V-photos and questions

Excellent info! thank you! Looks like the pickup rings aren't original, but that's a pretty common mod. The Schenker brothers, KK Downing, Andy Powell, Wolf Hoffman. . . all the cool kids were doing it to their Vs. Nice and light: 6lbs, 10.5oz.

NGD: 1982 Tokai FV-50 Flying V-photos and questions

I just received my "new" 1982 FV-50, shipped from Japan to Montana. So far I'm really enjoying it. It's astonishingly light, although that might be because my other guitars are Les Pauls and a '79 Fender Strat, all very heavy. I'll throw it on the scale when I get a minute. There's wear and a...

Source for Truss Rod Cover for Tokai FV-50 (TFV-50) Flying V

The seller said it's a replacement. I might do that - if I find a really cheap Gibson or Gibson replacement I'll probably buy and try. Now that I think about it - since the cover on there is not an original Tokai (presumably), it probably was made for a Gibson anyway - I'm guessing most...

Yes, those look like the same. Here's a photo of mine from the seller (I haven't received it yet): Any idea if it's interchangeable with Gibson? At least then I could find a blank white one to hold the place until I can scare up a proper Tokai one.

Source for Truss Rod Cover for Tokai FV-50 (TFV-50) Flying V

I ordered a 1982 Tokai FV-50 Flying V. It is white, but the original truss rod cover was replaced with a black one. I know an original Tokai truss rod cover will be hard to find. If anyone know a place to get one, please let me know. Otherwise, will any truss rod cover designed to fit a Gibson...

Tokai Silver Star vs Fender Japan (Fujigen) ST72: Nut width and neck shape?

I used to own an early 1990s Fender Japan St72 Strat. It was nice, but the neck felt wider than my original 1979 USA Fender Strat. I preferred the USA neck. I wish I had taken measurements before I sold the ST72. It's the only one I have ever been able to try out. I'm considering pickup up a...

Hello from Montana - new TFV-50 owner

I've been eyeing Tokais for a while, and finally jumped on a FV-50 Flying V that should be making the trip from Japan to Montana here shortly. I'm a fan of Les Paul, V, Explorer, and Stratocaster style guitars, especially the '70s style Strat, so I've been eyeing Silver Stars for a while...
